Can you send me a list of your dry transfers?
We make most of our dry transfers fresh for each new order and to our customer’s specification. It is better to tell us what you want, rather than ask us what we have made. Any dry transfer list we attempted would be well out of date before it were published and would require half a rain forest for its printing. Several retailers stock selected dry transfers made by us and we can supply their details on request.

Can you make a dry transfer of…..?
We can make dry transfers of most subjects.

My artwork or yours?
Either, though it is often cheaper to use ours. We can no longer take camera-ready artwork due to the demise of process film.

…as a computer file?
Yes, if it is a vector graphic. We may need to edit the file into a format readable by our software; ask us for compatible file types and formats &c.

How much for a custom dry transfer?
Our basic price for a straightforward, single colour transfer about 100mm x 100mm is a little over £20 and a dry transfer about four times that area is about twice that price. Each additional colour in register adds about 30% to the single colour price.

….and the origination?
No charge if the artwork is straight from our library

….any hidden extras?
No. We will always give a fixed price quote for our dry transfers if at all possible. If there are any items which we cannot pre-price, we will clearly state in the quote what they are and the rate at which we will charge for them.

....delivery period?
For new and complicated artwork, it can be as much as three months. Small dry transfers may have to wait until we can make a full batch of that colour. If you can't wait, we can provide an express service whose price is related to our time taken plus materials used.

What about copyright?
Yours for your original artwork. Ours for our original or modified artwork. You must obtain any necessary permissions or licenses required by a third party for the use of their designs.

How many colours in one dry transfer?
We regularly use six colours in registration. We haven’t discovered the limit yet.

What about white dry transfers?
Our standard transfer white is a brilliant, opaque white. We can 'dumb down' our white to match the greyish colour of other white lettering used on models and we can provide a very faded white to give an instantly weathered effect

….do they look speckled?
No, we use only solid, spot colours.

Smallest size?
Characters 0.3mm high or smaller.

How long do the dry transfers last?
We do not know. They last longer than than the twenty years we have been making them. We give a life time guarantee on our unapplied dry transfers.

Surface preparation?
Normally none required unless the surface is dirty or greasy. Our dry transfers stick well to normal modelling materials, whether gloss or matte, and the adhesive age-cures after application.

What about planking and strapping?
Our dry transfer material is soft and so can be realistically worked over all the humps and hollows on the surface. Our dry transfer instructions give full details of our suggested method of application.

What varnish?
Usually not needed, unless the dry transfer is subject to excess handling or cleaning. We do recommend that dry transfers applied to live steam locomotives be varnished.

Minimum order quantity?
One

Multiple dry transfers?
We charge by the area of dry transfer and this may comprise one or many individual dry transfers of different subjects, provided that they are of the same colour or sequence of colours.

Repeat Orders?
These will be at our prices prevailing at the time of payment. The artwork for your original dry transfer will usually have been placed in our library and so a variation using the same artwork will not normally attract an origination charge.

Why only dry transfers?
Rolls Royce don’t make Trabants and so we don’t make pressfix, methfix nor waterslide decals.
